This page is a monthly calendar with daily self care activities. It is meant to challenge us to try new ways of taking care of our needs. It is also meant to be a reminder to take a few moments daily for ourselves.
June
- Journal Thursday: How will your routine change for the summer?
- Talk with your children/significant other/ friend about your favorite summer memories.
- Accomplish something you have been wanting to do.
- Do something to connect with your spiritual side.
- Meditation Monday: Spend time meditating. Notice your thoughts and visualize them flying away.
- Get Moving Tuesday: Do something to prepare for a summer fitness activity. For example buy a swimsuit, bike helmet, or register for a fitness class.
- Enjoy a few minutes watching something in nature for example birds or squirrels.
- Journal Thursday: If you were a superhero, what amazing thing(s) would you be able to do?
- Find several healthy recipes for the summer and try one out.
- Do something to connect with your creative side.
- Do something to treat yourself.
- Meditation Monday: Spend a few minutes sitting with your eyes shut and focus on what you hear and smell around you.
- Get Moving Tuesday: Share with your family and/or friend(s) how you maintain a healthy body. For example talk about it, exercise together, or cook a healthy meal/snack together.
- Do some cloud watching. Take photos of the sky if you desire.
- Journal Thursday: What would you like to learn over the summer?
- Have a “Make your own ice cream sundae” social with your family and/or friends.
- Explore vacation ideas in other states.
- Do something fun with your father, grandfather, or children’s father.
- Meditation Monday: Try a walking meditation at a park, beach, or your own backyard. Pay attention to the sensations you feel when you walk.
- Get Moving Tuesday: Accomplish one of your summer fitness activities such as swimming, bike riding, hiking, yoga outside, or Tai Chi outside.
- Let the warrior inside of you out today. Do something to show support for a cause important to you.
- Journal Thursday: What are you thankful for this week?
- Do something nice for a friend.
- Take your creativity outside for a project.
- Research what you can do with essential oils. If you have some try making a new recipe.
- Meditation Monday: Create an outdoor space you can meditate in this summer.
- Get Moving Tuesday: Remember to drink plenty of water as you obtain your fitness goals today. Young living makes some great vitality oils to add to your glass/ceramic/metal water bottle such as vitality lemon, vitality orange, vitality lime, and vitality peppermint!
- Take time to just sit and relax doing something you enjoy such as reading or puzzle books.
- Journal Thursday: What new activity did you try this month that you would like to incorporate into your weekly routines?
- Celebrate your accomplishments for this month with family and/or friends.
April
- De-clutter one of your personal spaces
- Unplug for 1 hour ( No electronics, TV, Phone, computers, social media, etc.)
- Mindful Monday: Create a sacred feel – burn incense or use an essential oil diffuser- sit still & observe.
- Get Moving Tuesday: Try a a new exercise video on u-tube or a new exercise class.
- Smile
- Journal Thursday: Write a letter to someone telling them how much you appreciate them.
- Do a crossword, fill in, word find, soduko, or logic puzzle.
- Clean out a dresser/closet and bag items for a yard sale or donation.
- DIY- Make your own spa day item.
- Mindful Monday: Meditate or pray for 10 minutes.
- Get Moving Tuesday: Take a walk in nature.
- Put fresh flowers in your home.
- Journal Thursday: Write down a few of your favorite inspirational quotes.
- Enjoy a picnic lunch or supper. You can do this outside or put a blanket down inside if the weather isn’t appropriate.
- Paint a ceramic, picture, shirt, etc.
- Paint your nails a fun way for Easter!
- Mindful Monday: Take a few moments to mindfully (Use several of your senses) observe things that we associate with Spring.
- Get Moving Tuesday: Ride a bike either indoor(exercise bike) or outdoor.
- Complete a random act of kindness.
- Journal Thursday: Make a list of your positive qualities.
- Celebrate Earth Day by doing a DIY project for it.
- Get started on a family garden (herb, flower, vegetable, etc.)
- Enjoy doing something by candle light.
- Mindful Monday: Sit still and observe your thoughts & emotions.
- Get Moving Tuesday: Take your Yoga or other exercise outside if the weather is nice.
- Read for at least 15 minutes.
- Journal Thursday: What improvements would you like to make to your home?
- Get together with a friend for a fun activity of your choosing.
- Get something done that is irritating you.
- Treat yourself to something you want to do.
March
- Breathe 6 deep breaths.
- Journal Thursday: Create an event list such as birthdays or obscure national holidays.
- Make a bucket list/poster with your immediate family for Spring/Summer fun.
- Use a calendar to get organized for the months activities, meal planning, etc.
- Enjoy your favorite shower gels, lotions, after shave, etc.
- Mindful Monday: Drink a cup of tea/ hot drink mindfully. What flavor did you choose?
- Get Moving Tuesday: Do some Yoga.
- Use a candle to relax.
- Journal Thursday: Make a list/collage of funny things that happened to you.
- Hang out with friends/family doing something you enjoy.
- Create your own vision board.
- Cuddle up with a soft blanket and do something relaxing.
- Mindful Monday: Touch scavenger hunt- touch something soft, smooth, cold, warm, rough, fuzzy, etc.
- Get Moving Tuesday: How many crunches can you do in a minute?
- Compliment yourself
- Journal Thursday: What excites you about your future?
- Reach out and wish a friend a Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
- Practice a hobby.
- Try Meditation.
- Mindful Monday: Post a favorite positive affirmation where you will see it daily.
- Get Moving Tuesday: Take a walk.
- Listen to your favorite music.
- Journal Thursday: Fill an entire page with doodles using your favorite colored pens, pencils, etc.
- Mindfully prepare a healthy nutritious meal.
- Organize something that has been irritating your.
- Read for fun (Poetry, comic, magazine, blog, etc.)
- Mindful Monday: Sit outside ( or in a window) and enjoy the sights & sounds of the outdoors.
- Get Moving Tuesday: Get moving with your significant other or friend such as dance, walk, run, exercise class, etc.
- Lay down, close your eyes, relax…..think of something/ some place that makes you happy.
- Journal Thursday: What were your successes this month?
- Family/Friend night: Play a favorite game or do an activity you enjoyed as a child.
February
- Register for a class or workshop on something that interests you just for fun. Examples: crafting, computer, baking
- journal: Describe or draw a caricature of a person you admire & why you admire them.
- Create a self care package and give/mail to a friend you think could use it.
- Get Creative: Paint a ceramic, scrapbook, knit, or crochet.
- Give yourself a facial
- Try guided meditation.
- Sign up for or try out a fitness class such as yoga, pilates, tai chi, or zumba.
- Light a candle. Watch the flame flicker. Take in any scent.
- Journal: Write yourself a love letter describing what you admire about yourself.
- Get Creative: Create a collage representing “The Real Me”
- Read some poetry.
- Take a bubble bath.
- Give yourself a hug while thinking about what you like about yourself.
- Take a walk and photograph beautiful things in nature.
- Take out your favorite pens and doodle.
- Journal: Write a poem about a beautiful memory of yours.
- Go out with a friend for a coffee, breakfast, or lunch date.
- Organize something in your house that has been irritating you.
- Cuddle up on the sofa with a warm blanket, hot cocoa, and a relaxing activity such as a book, movie, or crossword book.
- Look at the sky and admire it. How would you describe it?
- Put on your favorite music and sing/dance to it.
- Give yourself a compliment.
- Journal: Try art journaling.
- Host a family/friend game night.
- Watch a TED Talk or documentary.
- Paint your nails.
- Put on your favorite lotion. How does it feel? How does it smell? How does it make you feel?
- Get Moving: Learn a new yoga pose or stretching exercise.
